785mm high. 1375 x 585mm. There is a fine proud bead along the edges of the legs and framework. The traditional cloud design handle plates were hand-made by B and H metalworkers of Derby. The original piece upon which this was based, was found by Wang Shixiang, the renowned documenter of antique Chinese furniture, in a Beijing market early one morning. Sadly, it was beyond repair; he described it however, in his book 'The Connoisseurship of Chinese Furniture' as an 'unforgettable object'. It is made of oil polished Narra (Pterocarpus Indicus).
